A memorable essay on humanity and inhumanity.

Sad to say but this type of incident is all too common in many parts of the world. How it can be tackled in any resolute fashion is invariably limited in extent by the mindsets of those in the surrounding neighbourhood.
Some will respond well to what has happened while others elect to ignore the matter entirely and proceed as though nothing unusual has taken place.

However, Tikun Olam (Repairing the World) is an injuction laid upon Jews (and those of other faiths) to improve the lot of humanity in general and also individuals in dire need of whatever assistance can be given. As intimated in the text above, this one story can serve as a close parallel to the Jewish experience over thousands of years.

But, on an optimistic note, might it be possible to kill several birds with one stone here? Could such examples of inhumanity and injustice be eradicated from the Family of Man by the simple expedient of an adjustment to the conventional outcome in such cases?

If successful in one small part of the globe, this repair technique might then expand to address many other equally pressing problems in the world outside.
