Hillary Clinton is a unique woman: the penultimate politician. My lifetime fascination with the political process has made Mrs. Clinton worth following through her journey to the top of the pile of those clamouring for power.
Years ago, when Bill Clinton brought shame to the office of the US presidency, we watched his devoted wife Hillary stand by his side as the perfect wife. Under normal conditions, one would have expected their marriage to dissolve after such public humiliation. What not everyone realized was that Bill had not just one, but many previous affairs during the nine years he served as Governor of Arkansas… so Mrs. C. was neither shocked or heartbroken. She held her head high as First Lady of Arkansas during it all. She had her own goals.
What I tried to explain to my listeners on my radio show in Jerusalem during the Clintons’ crisis was that the Clinton marriage was in fact a business partnership. It was clear to me that they had an agreement to support one another, come what may, in order that they might each achieve a place in the history books: the only husband and wife to each serve as President of the United States.
When Hillary lost the Democratic nomination to Obama, she had a serious decision to make. How could she stay relevant and still have the appearance of importance to the American people? It was well known that Obama called her into the Oval Office and gave her an ultimatum; either accept the office of Foreign Minister on his terms, or disappear into oblivion. His conditions were clear. She was to lead a totally reorganized Foreign Ministry with no real power. She was to be his mouthpiece with no personal opinions voiced at any time. In return, she would be on camera for the entirety of his presidency. She accepted his terms. Her life was spent on airplanes…running to countries and accomplishing the decline of America’s influence around the globe.
Do we blame her for implementing whatever Obama demanded? Do we judge her for spending four years doing his bidding without blinking an eye? Any reasonable person, not driven by her own dream of ascendency surely would have resigned finding the situation untenable. Her inability to handle the Foreign Ministry and her lack of response to the dangers at the Embassy in Benghazi were the result of this contorted vision. Was she inept or was she executing her President’s wishes by ignoring their pleas for increased protection ? When she used her own internet server for classified communications, she made a conscious decision to hide most of what was going on behind the scenes. What that was…will never be revealed: not to Congress, and not to you and me.
The decisions that she implemented brought the implosion of Iraq, the flourishing of Isis and radical terrorism. Her lack of response to the Embassy’s requests for support resulted in the deaths of a devoted American Ambassador and his staff. If you do not accept that she was “simply implementing the President’s goals” — then you must hold her responsible. If you do accept it, you must ask yourself what kind of person sells her values and the lives of others for personal success.
When called before Congress to report on the failures of Benghazi, her response: “What difference does it make ?” became a household quote. In essence, it also became her mantra. In fact, this is her philosophy regarding all her actions. None of it matters to her in spite of the illegalities and immorality involved. She has learned from her life in politics that neither she nor her husband would ultimately be held accountable for their actions. Holding on tight to the bucking bronco of politics, as it throws her in different directions… she will not be thrown off course and intends to win the ultimate prize.
She has made sure that no one will read her communications with the President or Foreign leaders. The CIA and FBI are investigating her deleting of years of her communications. It is probable that the White House will protect her and that she will not be indicted for her illegal actions as others have been in her situation, If the White House does block her prosecution, we have to ask what it is afraid of, should she come to trial.
Her skin is made of different cells than yours and mine. It is layers thick from years and years of creating illusions for a naïve public. She clearly feels she is superior to those whose votes she needs so desperately.
It begins to look as if Hillary wishes to continue the same Foreign Policy at which she failed when she was Foreign Minister. Somewhere along the line, she convinced herself that she and Obama were of one mind …. which is really a shame for the American people. If she would be able to prove she had something to offer which would bring America back to a place of respect in the World Community, she could provide hope to the electorate. She proposes no new ideas. She has been brainwashed into submission by her own passion for success. Rationalizing her own behavior has resulted in a female “ eunuch.”
What we are left with is a predictable entity. If you are content with an America castrated in the world’s opinion then Hillary is your dream candidate.
If not, “ABC: Anybody But Clinton!”
