The thing that gets missed here is that this is a position in the U.S not israel, so stop all your useless bleating about another countries Secretary Of state. Jewish Americans make up less than 2% of the population. Stop meddling in affairs, for a start you don't know what Hagel will do and I'm sure he'll do what's best for the U.S, exactly what he should do. As for the the vitriol spewed forward by the repugs on these pages about their president, have some respect instead of your dribble and spoilt childish rants. Most American Jews really don't care about Israel and want to belend into the environment. It will be an interesting statistic to see what percent of the 69% of Jews who voted for Obama end up having Jewish grandchildren, compared to that of the 31% who didn't vote for the messiah.

I'm always a tad surprised when someone questions the timing of my apostasy against the Democratic party and the progressive-left movement. It occurred three years ago. I'm sorry it didn't occur four years ago but I couldn't see into the future.

This is where, to me, the problem is with too many American Jews:

Many are cowered because they will be abandoned as apostates for publicly saying anything critical of Obama.

Control by coercion is a sign of weakness, even if administered in such a way to appear powerful.

I think you are very close to the line here, if not past it, in describing the "only" reason Obama got anywhere. He may have had advantages, but he still had to take advantage. Nor does not only get the votes of white liberals, either.

That is not to say that his decisions and the way he practices politics are ideal. He seems no less prone to manipulating than Bush, who was also not very interested in being President of all the people. He has mastered the art of cynical politics, for sure, but with his background weaned on Orientalism and identity politics, I am wary about some of his pledges and foreign policy decisions, not to mention his desire to work with the other side.

In the end, despite all the hype, I believe his constituencies will come to realize that he did not do much to improve them, but helped to accelerate the overall decline of the US to which all the players deserve blame, but for a few.
