Raheem Kassam, let me ask you a question and see if you can answer it as an educated person rather than a representative of a collection of ideas. Which of these do you think is the bigger obstacle to peace in Israel. The BBC with its attempted objectivity that cannot entirely cover some level of institutionalized bias or Fox News, Pamela Geller et al with their rabid Islamophobia, their racism and their determination to portray all Palestinians as terrorizing savages? Which of those two groups, in your opinion, has the greater impact on both Israeli and Palestinian attitudes to conflict resolution?

Daniel Sevitt The killing of Israeli children in the Sbarro pizzeria in 2001 sums up the mental sickness (and I am being quite literal) of Palestinian society. It's not just that they targeted women and children. It's that they openly celebrated it afterwards.

Never in history was there a Palestinian state. The original Palestinians in the 20th century were Jewish—they called their newspaper the Palestine Post and their orchestra the Palestine Symphony. In those days, the Arabs called themselves Greater Syrians. Even after Israel's birth in 1948, no Arabs called themselves Palestinians. The "Palestinians" began calling themselves that only after the 1967 war, when the Egyptian Arafat needed to invent the Pals.

I'm sure that it suits you to imagine me as reading one newspaper only, that's a symptom of the monomania I alluded to earlier. The only way anyone could find your argument reductive and irrelevant is if they are a "BIG Guardian reader". If only I were a BIG Daily Telegraph reader; then I'd understand. Silly.

Also, I love being lectured to about my "hatred of the defence" of a country I chose to immigrate to and in whose democracy I participate in proudly, by a think tank guy from London whose taxes pay for the institution he keeps coming on to an Israeli website to denigrate. Yay irony!

To be clear, I have not commented on this article to express my hatred for anything, and certainly not my own beloved country. I have commented here to express my ridicule for the poverty of your argument and its all round irrelevance to Israel. I think I expressed these things reasonably well. I think you have failed to respond in kind. Cheers.
