This is a mistake Jason. The only reason to not strive for a more complete victory, would be if Israel is planning a larger operation against Iran. If it isn't, we just wasted 3 billion shekels. For all the damage Israel inflicted, hamas (apparently) has no problem rearming. They also have no problem training new cadres of leadership. Think about it everyone in Gaza between the ages of 25 and 50 have been fighting Israel all their lives. They're all experienced (I don't think Israel has this kind of battle experience by the way - it's important).
I think you're right that there are two levels here. One is the media war, and the other is the actual war (where people die, and bleed, and lose loved ones). I don't think there is any sense in winning the media war, if we're still fighting the actual war. No one ever died in Israel over "international condemnation". Grad Rockets on the other hand.....
A complete victory would mean international condemnation. Many soldiers will die, a few may be kidnapped. But there is no wisdom in pushing off a war that will only be worse when we fight it again (and again, and again).
