R' Yosef Bitton says this explicitly in his Pesah Guide, plus R' Yitzhak Abadi and R' Gavriel Cohen say this and hold like this, as well. Hence the Abadi Pesah list.

You're right. It's probably easier and cheaper for Sepharadim to keep Kosher for Passover. But I never feel as though I'm suffering in my Ashkenazi, non-kitniyot household. Baruch Hashem.
