Valid arguments all, but I'd like to see you try something like iMessage on Android. The real "problem" is that Apple has offered a little too much power without the necessary safeguards. I use iMessage on my iPhone and my Mac- I get the messages sent to both. This is amazingly convenient. Can I do this with Android? No. And Android has is own set of problems: a hacker in France stole €500,000 from Android users precisely because the OS is "open = open for hackers to steal your data. There are NO viruses or malware on iOS BECAUSE Apple tests each and every one of the 650,000 apps to make sure they won't hurt you. You can't have it both ways (it's ether open and insecure or closed and safe)...

And while there have been a few bumps in the road since losing Steve, the people at Apple are very talented and they are VERY aware of the competition. The iPhone 5 is an amazing device and I'm sure the iPhone 6, when it comes out, will be even better. The Mac still blows away anything Windows can offer up. All is not as lost as it sounds.

When people use technology in a way that wasn't intended (i.e., not keeping to one person, one AppleID), then there will be unexpected hiccups. But for most of us, that's not the situation (e.g., I have 1 AppleID and have no problem syncing Notes, music, mail, bookmarks, etc. over all my devices). I, too, consider myself a "Mac Guru" and "support" some 30 people with their Apple products. I say "support" because I get one call every few months (this includes people using Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, etc.). I seriously doubt the calls would be this rare if I was supporting Windows & Android.

Apple is by no means perfect (personally, I would like to see them offer all the jailbreak additions on iOS), but I still think they're the best thing out there...

I let my guard down last Summer whilst on holiday and bought an Iphone4 -- My last ever Apple device. Its simple economics.
Apple have frequently made mistakes over the years but have fixed them pretty quickly (mobile me? iPhone 1 and 2?). The question is whether this is something they can fix or will leave to fester. They are making it more complicated to use their products than is necessary but still have the capacity to come up with a breakthrough. iTV anyone?
