Written by my Grandmother:
My name is now Vera Peterffy but my maternal grandparents, aunt and uncles were from Gyongyos. The family name was Czeisler and they owned a bicycle store on Jokai utca 10, the main street of Gyongyos . None of them survived. In the summer times, I had happy times in Gyongyos and knew most of the Jewish people who attended the great synagogue, where I went with my family for Shabbat. .After the war I lived at that Jokai utca address for 2 years. Otto we are the same age as I was born in 1931 to and deported from Baja to Austria. Last year I went to Gyongyos and tried but failed to find my grandfather's grave (who died pre-war) but there was nothing to find anymore.
Thank you Otto for your writing the article; it is time to give a loud and clear voice to our story, our history and the truth.

Yours truly,

I live in the U.S. I was born here, and I am an American citizen. I am also a Jew. Personally, I am tired of African Americans (blacks) saying I am White. I am not a minority and therefore I don't understand what it is like. Judaism is not recognized as a minority ethnicity in the U.S., and most people don't understand this. We are recognized as a minority religion. Many people do not know here that over 70% of Israeli Jews are not religious. If this is the kind of thing that is a part of your past; if this is something that people like you have suffered, then you are NOT a white man or a white women, you are a minority. If you, your parents, or your grandparents have not been the recipient of discrimination, then you are part of the majority. Is everyone clear on this and on the difference?

Not many times one reads such a strong, well written and meaningful article like this. I am sure it will have a great impact on Márton Gyöngyösi and others who need to understand that what happened can never be allowed anymore.
