While I can't go so far to say that I think Bibi hasn't made a mistake with E1, I totally agree that the world sees this completely out of context and chooses always to turn a blind eye to truly horrible things while at the same time prioritizing the condemnation of Israel for something a lot less. It's antisemitism. Good post.

Your claim that your family possibly owned land 2100 years ago in a particular place does not mean you can claim ownership of that land on your return 2100 years later. It does not even hold good for refugee situations (my parents are refugees too). A refugee does not have an automatic claim to ancestral property. Neither can you validly claim that the people who lived before ancient Israel do not exist. Their descendants certainly do, although you can argue you do not know who they are.

I do believe that the meaning of " land" is a different one in Israel then in a european state. Here " Land" is a "fence fo security" for our next generations. I happily would share it the day, the palestinian state prooves itself as a country dedicated to democracy and not to desctruction of Israel. Hopefully this will happen…I pray!

I don't agree with what you wrote, but you have a right to state your opinion. The problem is not E1, the problem is that our country, which claims a desire to resume negotiations with no preconditions, continues to set preconditions every day. E1 = we'll build there. Another empty space = we'll build there. There is a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but as long as Israel keeps claiming additional areas, we ensure ourselves additional generations of violence. Land is not important. Human lives and the future of our Jewish State are. (And if you really want to build in a desert, I will be glad to show you some nice vacant territories – in the Negev).

Yes, Rachel. We do all those things – if that is how you see it. I don't. I think we have done our part, tried our best. We accepted partition – they didn't. They rejected and continue to reject our very existence. It is 20 years since pitiful Oslo, and all that brought us was Intifada, bus bombings, murder, rockets and mortars. It is time for us to say 'Enough'. Am Yisrael Chai,. We are here, this is ours, and if they can't live with it, that is too bad. Because we are not going anywhere. Watching Abbas' pathetic hectoring at the UN was nauseating. And the world sat and listened and applauded. Thousands are killed in Syria, and we get vilified for defending our own citizens. CNN and others make a sport out of pretending that there is some correspondence between our civilian casualties, caused by indiscriminate rocket attacks that terrorize our civilians, and Hamas' human shield victims. Come on – it is time to get real, and stop pretending that we have someone to talk to, or that the Arabs will, in any real sense, come and 'negotiate'. The only thing they will negotiate is how they can purge us. It is Chanuka. In every generation, they rise up against us. but again, and again, Am Yisrael Chai. Israel lives.

Great article. Well written. All true and right and moral on our part. So we defy the whole world, anger our allies, isolate ourselves diplomatically because we are right and build on that little empty hill that no one except us truly deserves or even really wants. Then what? How does building on E-1 advance the chance of a peace settlement with our nasty, cruel and despicable enemies?
