Lovely words Avi ~ I am grateful to be a part of strengthening bonds and personal ties between Ariel and Mobile Alabama; Ariel's sister city. Ron Nachman's spirit will forever resonate with the soul of Alabama.

Very nice piece. We hope that even a bit of Ron's drive and charisma will move on to the leaders that must rise up to take his place. With regard to Ariel's existence, I've seen over time too many people who take Ariel's existence for granted. There are already too many precedents of giving away the last centimeter of land whether it was the Sinai and especially the three north Gaza settlements which were already 'connected' to Israel. When we even talk about settlement blocs, we admit that Elon Moreh, Migdalim, and even Tapuach are 'outside' and legitimate parts of negotiations. There is a 'separation fence' around Ariel that current chokes Ariel on three sides. If that fence becomes the new green line, then Ariel turns into Kiryat Shmona and Sderot, until it is evacuated. It is fantasy to think that Israel would give away all the land around Ariel and leave Ariel in place. I very much think that that Ron Nachman, even with his criticism of the small religious settlements, knew they were very important to Ariel.
