I would say this article strongly lacks of facts which makes it very easy to blame everyone in the Baltics. One cannot simply look at history from one side without considering everyday people's life during this time which without a doubt was difficult not only for Estonian Jews but for the whole country! This country, like others in Europe, was ripped between two powers, who both were horrible. It is not fair to judge without knowing that at this time no one had the choice to be neutral without getting killed or tortured or both! Both of those regimes killed lots of people! And it is quite clear that this article has either been written with strong dislike towards the country or with ignorance.
Already trying to leave the impression in the article like Estonians wanted to fight along Nazis because they supported the ideology is wrong! They fought because they were naive enough to believe that Nazis will leave after this and give back the independence as promised! Who on earth was supposed to know at that time that this is a pure lie and will never happen!
Estonia can be blamed in not having enough museums opened (which do exist!) to show how much suffering the Nazis brought as well, which in my opinion can be explained with comparing the length of both regimes!

I am not claiming there weren't any criminals in the Baltics who would join either Nazi Germany or Communist Russia, but these people can be found in every country. Making simple generalisations is just foolish.

The Estonians maintain that they joined the Waffen-SS only to fight the Bolsheviks. No one has ever hurt a fly. What about the Estonians along with Latvians and Lithuanians who formed part of the Einsatzgruppen killing squads who went from town to town to liquidate the ghettos in Poland. Does the killing of innocent women and children also constitutes fighting communism? As a Shoah witness, I can testify that the Baltics were infinitely worse than the Germans; these hired sadists delighted in tearing babies away from their mother's protective bosom and smashing it against a wall, holding the baby by the legs. After the war, rather than face punishment in their own countries by the Russians, these war criminal were freely allowed into Britain by the thousands. Look up the book 'Justice Delayed' by Prof. David Cezarani. Justice was not delayed – it was never done. He wrote the book when there was a feeble attempt to bring some of these criminals to trial which fizzled out because the crimes were not committed on British soil.
