It seems to me that we have got to consider, first and foremost, what is best for us as a people.

You and I both come out of the American progressive-left, but if our movement has let us down we just need to acknowledge that fact and move on. We can still take the best of it with us, tho. We can hold on to the best of the ideals and it's the ideals that count, not the movement or the party.

We stand for universal human rights and that includes the universal human rights of women and Gay people and Jews and non-Muslims in the Middle East.

Good for you, dude.

Indeed. I wish I had an answer to that, but I don't even know where to begin. At least I can take (cold) comfort in the fact that I don't feel the need to defend this president's troubling foreign policy…

It surely must be down days for those who have tied themselves to him, however. The Republican Boogey Man thing can only go so far.

Four years and six days to go, I suppose the best we can hope for is that nothing big happens over that time.
