Thanks for the vote of confidence, Bob, although I'd probably end up like Luke Skywalker, minus a hand or some other vital appendage if light-sabres are still required for Jedi duties.

Note: I posted a reply as John Yorke before this. Now it's vanished from the scene. I've had to create a whole new facebook entry to accommodate new messages. Miriam, it seems, has managed to kill off the other John. And he hadn't even reached his teenage years. I shall henceforth refer to her as Darth Maul, Dark Lord of the Sith. It will be some small compensation in so great a loss.

So what's your solution, Doron?

Peace talks?-- they get nowhere because the situation has always been far too fragile to sustain them.
Military superiority?-- that's been around for years and nothing at all has been concluded by it.

Political manoeuvring and back-room deals – both sides are just too polarised to accommodate much in the way of compromise and balance in these matters.

Wait for the Messiah/Jesus/Hidden Imam to arrive and resolve matters in person? – that doesn't speak very highly of human ingenuity nor does it reflect well on whatever talents might be ours to address so long-standing a problem.

The one alternative now is to invert the whole question, yank it inside-out, start thinking along more lateral lines. It won't kill anyone to do this and it just might end a conflict that has already consumed far too many lives and so much hope for the future.

It may be that your function in life to be a naysayer in such matters, Doron, especially when new ideas and radical concepts arise. Of course, it's OK to be skeptical here but don't be too quick in passing judgement.
Because, if you're ever wrong, you will have all eternity to contemplate your error.

Thanks for that vote of confidence, Bob, although I've always thought of all those light-sabres and such as being far too dangerous to life and limb. For me, the pen must remain ever mightier than the sword. And, at my age, that's very probably just as well.

Who I am and who you are, Doron, is immaterial in the long run.

None of us are here forever; time runs out for all of us. Then we must face whatever follows on from there. Very annoying, of course, but that seems to be the way of it. Life ends for each and every one of us; no one is immortal. But to enter eternity having left the world no better off than before is not to be recommended. It might be thought in higher circles that we were not doing our level best to improve matters.

What's your best, Doren? Leave the situation to sort itself out and do nothing other than hand it on to the next generation in the hope that they can deal with it more effectively? Somehow I sense that to be a poor return for so much loss of life and all the conflict that sixty years and more have generated.

Surely, together, we must all be able achieve so much better. If not, then we ourselves are a poor return on whatever investment has been made in us.

Different name same BS! You for months now (as your John Yorke) and now nee Cronin whatever your name is? Is still clueless as ever! You still are spewing your same idea that is going nowhere fast, still with the same line oh that something needs to be done but you give 0 viable solutions. you think that this issue will solve all the worlds ills. Even if we had a real partner for peace and that all fell into place and there was peace with the Palesitians. Do your really think that would stop Iran, Hamas , Hizbulla the MB etc. from seeking our destruction?
