Later today, the Prime Minister of the State of Israel and modern day leader of the Jewish people will stand up in the American Congress to advocate against a nuclear- armed Iran. Make no mistake, this is history in the making.

Netanyahu will do something which will be perceived by many as very un-Jewish, he will swim against the tide and deliver a speech which the leader of the free world does not want him to deliver. Or in other words, he will do exactly what he was elected to do. Defend the interests of the State of Israel. Now more than ever is the time to get behind Bibi.

Put the party politics aside and separate the trees from the forest, because even the greatest American and Israeli spin-doctors should not be able to cloud your judgement on whether or not a nuclear armed Iran is good for Israel, the region or the world. As the deadline for a possibly horrendous deal with Iran is still on the table, the time for action is now. Just days after an Iranian naval exercise downed a life-size replica of a U.S aircraft carrier off the shores of Iran, it is clear they mean business and are far from beating their swords into plough shields. If history has taught us one thing it is that we shouldn’t ignore threats of genocide. Or in the words of our Prime Minister, when we say never again, we mean never again!

Those that attempt to minimize or diminish the Iranian threat or even suggest that the congressional speech is an election ploy, should be ashamed of themselves. Nothing stinks more of political opportunism than the attempted rationalisation of why the price of cottage cheese is more important than stopping a maniacal regime that regularly calls for our destruction to obtain weapons of mass destruction. We established a Jewish State so that we would not need to beg others to defend us. Gambling with our nation’s future for the sake of a few more votes is a disgrace. Don’t get me wrong, I like cheap milkys as much as the next guy, but my first priority is ensuring that we have a country where we can eat them freely for many years to come.

It is time to acknowledge that we have been blessed with a phenomenal leader and orator that understands the challenges ahead and can clearly deliver the message of what a bad deal with Iran would really look like for Israel and the free world. It is not just his right to deliver this speech but his obligation. There will be plenty of time afterwards to for political mud slinging and spin. Now is the time to unite as a nation behind our democratically elected leader. Now is the time to get behind Bibi!
