Bryan your point however valid it may tend to be is till not taking into account the Israeli side. How would you feel if your children spent all day in a shelter at school? Do you think they want to fight? The answer is no. The west bank does not have these issues and for good reason they want peace.

The defense has caused over 10 times the deaths of civilians than the original attacks. Blanket self-defense arguments are not enough. At what price is this defense coming at and will it actually help or harm the safety of Israelis in the future? It's not clear.

As the NYtimes pointed out last week. Israel's reaction thus far may have just played into HAMAS' hands, an organization that is fueled by hate. Civilian deaths–regardless of what the actor's intent was–will concretely fuel HAMAS and others against Israel in the future.

As this article points out, the rockets are coming from densely populated areas in Gaza. This is no mistake. Military deterrence can only go so far.
