Like you said, she's an egoist. IMO, that's the only reason she's there. Of course it's possible she's trying to torpedo Kadima for revenge. BTW, the only thing I like about Alon Tal is his fiddle playing.

While normally I'd agree with you, he's negatively impacting Yesh Atid. I consider myself right-wing, but I believe in a lot of the domestic issues that Yesh Atid is touting, and I think they'd be a crucial component of a coalition run by Bibi with Bennet as well. I'd love that. The problem with Livni is everyone hates her: The right think she's a tool (which she is), the left thinks she's just there for popularity and diluting them (which she is), and Yesh Atid which is neither here nor there, and is a party that actually wants to accomplish something and is willing to join a Bibi coalition is also suffering.

It'd be one thing if she's killing everyone because she's slated to get twenty-something mandates. But she's going to be a nothing party! So what's she doing?!

Peace is plain and simple. No more war. No more hatred. No more violence. Quiet, security, and serenity.
Every PM has worked to achieve this, whether it was Ben-Gurion, Begin, Shamir, Peres, Rabin, or Bibi. Livni's old boss (Olmert) tried, with her at his side. All have failed.
Josh, friend, re: "peace":

1. I, personally, (and very honestly) DO NOT KNOW--how...SPECIFICALLY..."peace" (which seems to be defined quite differently by the different parties involved) can be achieved.

2. My guess is that there IS NO "painless" (for all parties involved) way of achieving it.

3. ARGUABLY...it is the FEAR (on the part of all parties)...of what their share of the "pain" will involve (and what uncontrollable demons it might unleash in their respective societies)...that has caused ALL parties concerned to:

(a) Pontificate LOUDLY....

(b) While EFFECTIVELY continuing to--KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD...

(c) While (as is human nature)...placing 100% of the blame...on "the other guy."

(but, I hasten to admit--I could be flat-out WRONG...OK?)

Wow, I got a response!

Regarding peace and security, the author doesn't answer my main question. I didn't ask WHY there needs to be peace. EVERY leader has worked towards peace. But there won't be peace until the Palestinians realize that peace is in their interest. Yes, I know that Tzippi wants a 2-state "solution" (problem). I personally disagree with her on that, fundamentally and practically (I think it's practically impossible to implement and will also not solve anything - it will simply make life worse for the Jews,) but that's her right. But she has yet to say how she will achieve that. Instead of blaming Bibi, tell me what she would do differently. And don't say "I would speak to Abbas." She spoke to Abbas in 2007, and where'd that get us? Bibi instituted a Settlement freeze! Unprecedented in the HISTORY of Israel! Abbas refused to negotiate. And continues to refuse to negotiate. He instead continues to glorify terrorists, signed a reconciliation deal with Hamas, and ignored Oslo completely by going for unilateral recognition at the UN. So again, Who are you Tzippi?

Regarding the environment, don't put yourself so high. She brought in the Green Movement to increase votes. Plain and simple. I have never once heard Livni talk so importantly about the environment that she made such a conscientious decision.

Regarding the economy, so she brought in some socialists. This is a side point, as I'm actually going to argue on the issue itself - socialism doesn't end poverty; it just makes everyone equally poor.

Regarding the rest, I recognize that she has talked about these issues, but every time I have heard her speak, it has been in the context of "I'm not Bibi or Shelly and this is what I want," even though they campaign for similar issues. Truth be told, many of her social values are similar to Lapid. The big difference: Lapid has clear messages. No matter where he goes, he says his plans. He posts his plans on his website, Facebook, etc. You can disagree with them, but they're there. With Livni, they aren't. She's a cut-and-run. She loses Kadmia primary so she bolts. She only comes back when she can re-enter the Knesset. Then, she tries merging with other parties with her at the helm. Ridiculous! A party that's supposed to get a maximum of 11 seats (and that's being generous) thinks she can lead a merged party with Labor? That's plain ego.

Again, Livni has done the go-round a bunch of times, and failed to lead. She won't tell us who she is. Shelly shows why she'll be a good leader. Lapid shows why he's important. Bibi and Bennet shows why they're necessary. All Livni continues to campaign for (at least at the multiple speeches of her's I went to,) "I'm not Bibi and I'm not Shelly."
