I understand that for you this played an essential role in experiencing part of your father's heritage. When I got to the part about your Catholic father finding out in college that he was Jewish I couldn't help but wonder what a shock that must have been to him and how he dealt with his new reality. I would love to read a post about that if you are up to writing it. Hope you had a good trip overall.

A friend of mine visited the caverns of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, which are visited by the character of Ya’akov Bog in Bernard Malamud’s “The Fixer.”.
