The real elephant in the room is Mahmoud Abbass's statement that Israeli governments can change but the PA's positions will stay the same. Lapid had to sell the line about renewing the negotiations; perhaps he even believes that nothing has pprogressed because of Netanyahu. Either way it shows something particularly skewed with Lapid and his crowd if they think that negotiations can be renewed at the press of a button, as if the PA is some passive participant.

Considering that Lapid didn't emphasize the issue of the negotiations until the day after the elections says everything about it. Yesh Atid can claim the mantle of the "darlings " of the Left and the International community and it is a great strategy if their intention is to marginalize the "Jewish Home" party. In the end they will give it lip service and then drop it when they see they no longer get traction for it. Perhaps they will save the issue in order the intialize new elections once they feel they have some record to stand on. A bit hypocritical, but nothing out of the ordinary for Israeli politics.

That voting patterns differed in this election compared to the previous one is undeniable. Trying to extrapolate what it means though is like reading tea leaves. Yesh Atid deemphasized almost every issue relative to its central platform of drafting chareidim and the need for change. No one including Lapid knows for sure what his mandate really is for.

Why your obsessive insistence on the faux anti Israel narrative that Israel "lurches to the right" in the face of simple facts, like the actual list of Yesh Atid.
This kind of reality-denial cognitive dissonance is unfortunately typical of many on the left who actually don't care about actual Israelis or Palestinians... But desperately cling to their comic book black-and-white story lines. It isn't anti semitism, but unwillingness to deal with complex reality. Welcome to the Middle East

If the writer of this 'article' believes Yapid to be more centre than Likud he is delusional. Ok so the left cant take a beating and the media lies about Likud having their worst ever results are fiction as they have more ground between them and the next largest party than ever before. So what will the left do? Start even more fantastic fabrications regarding Bibi? One thing for sure is Yapid shares his resentment of PA arabs openly and defiantly. Is this left wing, Shenker, my self hating fool?
