Yonatan Knickerbocker . There is only one pie, Yonatan, and how it gets to be divided up is a matter for another day. Forget that for now. Concentrate on stopping the conflict in its most virulent form. Get that over and done with first. Don't try to run before you can walk.

As a former engineer, I know that any complex machine needs a timing sequence to follow if it's going to perform its proper function. If something that should activate near the end of a sequence is made to work too soon, the whole machine can just stop, blow a fuse and damage some vtal piece of circuitry. So, all things in the correct time and place. Move ahead one step at a time. But, be determined to move ahead and know then that you're always going in the right direction.

Your article is an important statement because as an Israel advocator one needs a powerful logical platform to function effectively. The method of diversion to other issues and presentation of selective facts is boiler plate verbiage that now comes out of official “hasbara”, dished out for public consumption. Of course very few buy this, except here in Israel where the Greater Israel movement has moved itself and others so far into the box, that thinking outside of it becomes impossible. There is a fault line – actually a chasm – in the logic that says we support a two-state solution and while stating it, proceed with rampant construction in the area designated for the Palestinian state.
But worse than that, this moves Israel into an anti-democratic zone of one people ruling another, exploiting assets and land and creating a state which ultimately will have a Jewish minority. The Zionist movement is itself threatened as its democratic foundations are eroded. This is where you come in. They will tell you that you have no right to speak because you don’t live in Israel. You have every right. The Zionist vision is now fundamental to Jewish identity world wide and your are not only part of this debate, but play a critical part in voicing and opinion and acting for change. The day American Jewry tells Netanyahu that he is way out of line, will be the day policy changes here in Israel.

WE NEED A DEFINITION FOR THE ABSTRACT NOUN ' DEMOCRACY '

Here is one for you;

The spirit & purpose of 'Democracy' is to allow members of society to live as harmoniously as possible.

A Democratic Society give every member the FREEDOM to make RESPONSIBLE CHOICES within that society. ( if I respect your freedom to make responsible choices and you respect mine . There is no conflict)

No one else can know another's thoughts & feelings from moment to moment.

To this end.

Each individual must be taught from day one to be responsible for their own thoughts, FEELINGS & actions.

This is a parental prime directive in a Democratic Society.
