Attacks on Jews are on the rise in Europe. In France, Denmark and other countries, people are attacked solely because they are Jewish. This is in 2015, not 1935.
We have all read the reports of the non Jewish man who wore a kippah down the street in Malmo, Sweden. If you have not read Avi Mayer’s post on Paris from last year, you need to (here is the link: http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/insecurity-on-the-seine/). For a person who is Jewish to be told it is unsafe for him to wear his kippah..that just boggles my mind.
I guess I grew up differently than those Anti Semites in France. I was raised to not treat people differently because of their race, religion or sexual orientation. “Treat everyone the way you want to be treated”. Have I always done that? No. I have been very honest in my posts that I was one who treated Muslims unfairly in the past. I have learned from my mistakes.
Blaming Israel for the rise of Anti Semitism is a cop out. Israel is NOT 100% Jewish. It is called “the Jewish State” to show its history, not to show its demographic makeup. Israel is a multicultural nation, living in a region of countries that are NOT multicultural. Iran is a theocracy…The Islamic Republic of Iran. Israel is NOT a theocracy. SO, why is it Israel’s fault for people hating Jews?? IT IS NOT. It is deep seated, multi generational hatred. The same hatred that Europe had in the 1930s is the same hatred there today.
People can try to justify their hatred of Jews, but there is not justification for hate. If I can lose my hatred for a group of people by opening my mind and my heart, others can too. But they have to want to lose that hatred, and not hold onto it like a prize. Jews are a beautiful, caring people. If Europe allows this hatred to continue, soon all the Jews will be gone. And that is what the Nazis really wanted.
