Hi Harold- I'm Julie Maxine Kaplan's daughter, Bruce was my uncle and I never got to know him that well for many reasons I guess the main one being the distance, I was raised in Israel. I loved reading your Kaddish for Bruce, Its great to learn more about my uncle and that he had such a meaningful and positive effect on your life. I also want to thank you on behalf of my mother again, your story means allot!
So thank you and keep the music alive.

Hello Harold- My name is Maxine Kaplan Bennett and I'm one of Bruce Kaplan's sisters. I live in Karmiel, Israel and just read your blog about Bruce. I am very moved and wanted to let you know how much my sister and I appreciate reading about your memories of Bruce. We were rather estranged from Bruce during the last few years and your words have helped us have a better understanding of his life. I also wanted you to know that I said the mourners Kaddish and he did have 3 Jewish children who have mourned his death.
(Thank you again for what you wrote and I'll surely continue to follow your writings).

Thanks Harold. My family sometimes busts my chops for being a band geek in high school (they are a truly musically challenged bunch)…but if they only knew how much we cherished every rehearsal and every concert (and maybe every football game and parade). Mr. Kaplan was such an important part of that experience for all of us and your tribute to him is beautiful. Thank you!

Harold, you are blessed in many ways. You were fortunate enough to know such a wonderful and talented individual. You were fortunate to be a benefactor of his teachings, both in music and life. But more important, I get a sense from your blog that Mr. Kaplan knew he had influenced your life in such a powerful and positive way, as he did others and wherever he is now, I believe he is grateful for that knowledge and your prayers.
