A few minutes ago I received a very warm e-mail from our Editor, Miriam Herschlag. In it, she conveyed her heartfelt good wishes for my wife’s recovery, Additionally she called to my attention the many comments readers have sent in response to my recent article, “I Cannot Say Goodbye”.

The kind words that so many wonderful readers, all strangers to me, have written, have truly touched my heart. My eyes are filled with tears as I write these lines. It reassures my faith in the goodness of mankind. People who do not know me have stretched out a hand and an open heart to comfort me.

Min ha maitzar karati Yah… from the depths of my despair I have called upon my God, But He does not reply. He neither sends disease nor cures disease.

When I pray for someone whose illness knows no cure, I pray as follows:

“Dear God,
Please send your skill and wisdom to the physicians and surgeons who minister to my beloved wife.
Help them to heal her if healing is possible. Please give her more length of days that we may be blessed with her presence.
But if it is Thy Will that her beautiful soul must be surrendered and returned to You, please let it be without pain or suffering. Accept her into the gates of paradise and crown her head with glory.
Give strength to me and my children that we may face the inevitable with courage to proclaim Thy Holy Name. Watch over us and save us from depression and bless us with Thy Fatherly loving care. Amen.”

If God hears my prayer, He alone will know how to respond.

In the meanwhile, He has sent many of you to bring to me words of hope and comfort.

Mi libi el libchem… from my heart to your hearts, my eternal gratitude. God’s rich blessings upon you.
