In the past couple of weeks there have been an increasing number of incidents involving Palestinian stone throwers. In the worst case, two-year-old Avigail Ben Zion suffered a head injury after her mother’s car was stoned in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood.
But injuring Israeli toddlers distracts from the Palestinian narrative of perpetual victimization. This might go some way to explaining this story published today (December 4) by the Palestinian Information Center:
The Palestinian Information Center claims ”to promote awareness about Palestine, the Palestinians and the Palestinian issue and to balance the often distorted picture presented in the mainstream media.”
In this case, however, the picture isn’t just distorted. The PIC isn’t “promoting awareness about Palestine” – it’s intentionally promoting a false narrative. The photo above is not from the Tuesday night of December 3 as the PIC would have you believe, but is actually from an incident that occurred in October 2010 in Jerusalem, captured in this footage.
Presumably, the PIC believed that a headline accusing a “settler” of running over a Palestinian child would distract from what was really going on in the photo and what Israelis have been facing while driving in the Jerusalem area in recent weeks.
You can clearly make out the masked youths in the background ambushing the vehicle. The fact that the incident was captured by photographers at the scene brings up the bigger issue of the involvement of the press in actually provoking incidents such as these in the first place.
In this case, the PIC has recycled a staged incident (albeit one that the Palestinians didn’t expect to end with an injured child). Yet another example of just how far the Palestinians will go in an effort to present themselves as victims even as they attack Israeli children with stones.
Yet another example of Palestinian propaganda designed to demonize Israel in the eyes of the world, aided and abetted by a compliant media only too happy to spread the lies.
