No, the NRA comment was a gross attempt to equate the mental illness of random shooters to the security situation in Israel against organized terrorism. It's basically an attempt to compare apples to eggs for the NRA's own selfish purposes.

If I'm not mistaken is that most private schools do have their own armed security forces. In State schools there are and have always been arm security guards. Ever armed guard is a State police officer.
I went to a high school that had a rifle range in the basement and students would bring their rifles to school keep them in their lockers and fire them after school. It was called Maine East of Park Ridge, Illinois.
That was a long time ago before drugs became common in school.
Far as I know is that every local synagogue knows that they can be a traget by the local Nazi party and take measure to protect their congergregation. The Jewish schools have teachers that belong to gun clubs I know of many Jews that shoot on a regular basics.
Maybe the Jews are arm in the Midwest because many are from the death camps in Europe or from the USSR and remember what it is to live in fear.
To every Jew Israel is in your life rather you like it or not.
As was those 6 million defenseless Jews who were killed in Europe a few decades ago.

Law-abiding citizens have the RIGHT and RESPONSIBILTY to protect themselves, their families, and others (with firearms if necessary) from murderers, rapists, terrorists and other evil men. This is a UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLE OF JUSTICE. The Torah outlaws murder. It does not outlaw law-abiding people defending themselves, their families, and others (with or without a weapon.) Thank God for the the Torh and the fact that the founding fathers of the USA understood this principle of justice.
