Stephanie, you may be right, perhaps the ICC is corrupt as well, but if that is the case, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it, so there is no point even lamenting the vote and talking about it. I have to believe Israel's true record will stand. Although it wasn't highly publicized Israel was cleared of any wrongdoing in the flotilla incident. Of course no one is screaming that from the rooftops but I have to believe that if Palestine goes this route they will not succeed.

Helen, thanks for reading and commenting. Israel's goal is not the destruction of the Palestinians, if it were, Israel would have done away with them decades ago, they certainly have the means and the opportunity.

I think there are those in the Palestinian territories whose goals are the destruction of Israel although there are Palestinians who merely want to live in peace with Israel. Unfortunately Hamas controls half of Palestine and they refuse to recognize Israel and they call and act for Israel's destruction. The world at large, save the US, Canada and a few other reasonable nations, expect Israel to forsake their own security to give the Palestinians a state because ultimately on the world stage it is still okay for the world to hate and be suspicious of Jews. Somehow that is acceptable. It is okay for Abu Mazen to get up at the UN and call Israel a racist nation, an oppressor and for them to label blowing up buses and cafes with children in them, peaceful resistance.

When your goal is the destruction of another people, then there cannot be real peace. I am fortunate enough to have had friendships with a jewish who was brought up in Morocco, then Israel. Also with a Palistinian family who have had a loss in the fighting. Here they were friends and the Palestinian even hired her brother-in-law (who was Jewish) to handle his business. They both had horror stories about the other side before they came to America.

No, that's not what I was saying but we have to deal with what is. They are just not going to go away and leave the West Bank to us. As hard as it is, and I don't like the idea of giving up any piece of the land of Israel either, but is it worth generations of bloodshed and war? I don't think it is worth that.

Zahava, we think very very differently on this and I appreciate that you are passionate about your position on this. Neither of us is going to move any closer to the other side. I am willing to trade land for a true piece and you aren't. That's what it comes down to. I am not going to change your mind and you will not change mine. Do you want to keep arguing?

Dana Meijler-Gross so what you're saying is that it's not practical for the Jordanian Arabs to move to Jordan, but it is practical for them to squat on our land and steal what is ours. Oh. I get it now.

Zahava, I am not in disagreement with you (well, not much, which considering our political views, is pretty good). The Palestinian cause was created only after the Arabs realized that decimating Israel would not be possible. Indeed the Palestinians are Jordanians and they have a country. So, if we are only talking about having the right principle, yes, you are right. Given the practicality of the situation, there is no way the issue can be resolved by the Palestinians moving to Jordan (or living as Israeli citizens) and fully incorporating the West Bank into Israel and doing whatever with Gaza. Whether it is right or not we are stuck with the Palestinians and stuck with land for peace. Probably though, we are more likely stuck with the status quo.

Dana Meijler-Gross All they have to do is look to Jordan and start to once and for all learn their proper name - Jordanians. The Jews living here were the Palestinians. The Arabs had refused until 1964 to refer to themselves as Palestinian until they realized that it suited their political strategic goal of of destroying Israel. In addition, the Arabs in this region received their self determination long ago when Britain carved out yet another Arab country from the original mandate of the Jewish National homeland and all those who came from Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia are welcome to find their way back there for their "self determination."
