This is the youtube video of the meeting Hen was present in. The young man who launched into anti-semitic remarks and became physically intimidating is not doubt, troubled. He should seek psychotherapy for that type of anger. Very sad. As a person who endeavors to remain objective, I applaud your courage to attend the event. If what you say truly did transpire, then Mr. Burnat owes you an apology and explanation for his actions. As we could see in the video, the IDF did shoot people. Clearly, there is much work to be done on both sides….

Kurt, there are Israelis that do not approve of the encroaching settlements the West Bank. Many of the settlements are filled with extremists. There are also many in Israel that want dialogue and peace. The Israeli-Palestinian problem was one created by foreign governments after WWII. The fight as you call it, should be directed towards justice. If that means returning lands that did not belong to Israelis to their rightful owners, that's the direction the fight should take. I applaud the Israelis who see what is right and stand up for it. They love Israel just as much as anyone else, but what is right and correct must be done to bring this conflict to a peaceful end. You are so misguided, Linda. There are evil Christians, Muslims, Cubans, Americans, Israelis, Palestinians, just as there are good people. You should not judge an entire group of people, but from my many encounters with zealots of any kind, this is what all of you do – judge others. Let that to God. Your God is very prejudiced if he favors one people over another..sorry, but I don't believe that myth. He should love all people equally.

I sincerely hope one day you get to meet some of the wonderful Palestinian people there are in the world Linda – as a Christian you should know that Muslims revere Christ and that many Palestinians are also Christians. It seems most un-Christian to characterise a whole people as evil and liars. I am surprised and saddened to hear such hatred from someone who considers themselves religious and particularly as a religion based on love and forgiveness.

We get both here in the UK, Israeli deceit is promulgated over Arab deceit generally in the media – but the facts don't lie on the ground – the really brave thing to do, with integrity is to go and see and spend time living with and talking to people in 'both camps' – every Brtish Jew, Republican Christian and a few US rabbis I've encountered who have spent time in the West Bank with Palestinians has come back with changed views on the conflict and who is lying to who. I am impressed by their humanity, honesty and fair mindedness.

Mr. Hen Mazzig. Israel has more friends here in the US than she realizes. You went to a protest, but did you notice that the entire population wasn't there? I would say that is a good sign. Israel can beat those like Lyad by inviting more tourists to Israel to see the truth for their selves.

So some violent thug threatened you at a talk? Of course, that delegitimizes the entire Palestinian Rights Movement. Because of course, the IDF never threatens anyone, and Palestinians are the oppressors who have absolutely no reason to be so upset! Look at how good the Palestinians have it! They can live in almost 25% of the West Bank! They can pay Israel to visit the Dead Sea! They can pay Israel for the water that is underneath their very houses!

This article is even more devoid of context. You are the Occupying Army. What do you want? Roses? Hugs? Or simply passive acceptance of the theft of their land and denial of basic human rights.

Brendan – I know you as a fair minded human being and I will think carefully about your comments rather than react to them or seek to make you out as something you are not as a construct from my own imagination. I think you say something really quite fundamental. I know it is based on your own experiences, concerns and friendships on the ground between people on both sides who live day to day in this intolerable situation, as Debbie points out, as do so many others in the wider world.

In addition to what Pesh Cohen is saying, keep in mind, Mr. Ryan, that all Hen was trying to do was to open a dialogue. I, too, have tried to open dialogues with such people (many of them Jewish ) and, though they are often supporters of the "downtrodden", they won't allow me to speak about where I stand on the issue. They will yell over you with lies or focus on propaganda (like that Israeli soldiers kill "Palestinian" children, not that Hamas cowards use children as shields to make it look like Israelis protecting their own children are killing "Palestinian" children). If you are so concerned about disenfranchised people, why are you not fighting for the Basques to get their own land? If you are so concerned about people being "kept down", why are you not fighting for women in Afghanistan, non-Muslims in Darfur, Tibetans whose land is occupied by the Chinese and Christians in Indonesia, for example? Do you honestly think that the "Palestinians" are the worse treated people in the world? Do you honestly think that the "Palestinians" have a corner on the "suppressed" market? (BTW, those who are suppressed are suppressed by their own leaders). Have you ever asked the Arabs who live in what is colloquially called the "West Bank" whose rule they would rather live under, Israel or Hamas/Fatah? about 2/3 preferred Israel's rule when asked.
