Etana Gordon Friedman- I know exactly what you are talking about. I did find Kfar Avraham quite unfriendly, except for you. Not only the men, though. Here in Modiin, people on the street do greet eachother. Maybe it's all the Anglo energy here that has rubbed off on everyone else. Or maybe just that some neighborhoods are friendlier than others.

patti's notes: it never hurts to say hello to your neighbors or just smile at people , when out somewhere. a little thank you, when door is open for you and always tell your family, you love them every day, as we never , when our time will come , or theirs. christmas is a lovely time of year, when we share things more, should be christmas , all year long, in that field. merry christmas to all, all year long. I am actually a firm believer in this concept ,to greet all witha sever Ponim yofes. A pleasant face. We are all Hashem s people and greeting you fellow human can literally change a life as we have seen from Rabbi Lipman 's moving story. I heard of stories that took place during the holocaust where a simple greeting and a" How are you ?" enquiry to a fellow human helped sved lives. It does not cost any money and little effort to greet someone good morning, be pleasant towards others or say thank you in the shops. Our youngest child now does the same , even calling across the street to people! It brightens someones day, helps make the world a happier place and of course is a big Kiddush Hashem. I think that the most wonderful thing you can do for anyone is to stop and say Hello or pat them on the shoulder or offer hand in friendship. As a nurse I am extremely aware of what a few kind words and/or a touch can do. Thank you for the reminder though, sometimes we forget.
