The religious authorities are turning many historical sites (eg, Joseph's Tomb) into "synagogues" so they can impose their strict rules. Great article!

It is not surprising that for those whom the Kotel is more important to will be more protective of it. Meanwhile, Reform and Conservative have a section of the Western Wall itself. The emphasis on the Kotel appears to be a statement that only when something is sanctified by the Orthodox, does it become holy.
