With a nerve-gas equipped Syria being the immediate cause for concern and the possibility of Iran soon manufacturing its first nuclear weapon, positive prospects for the Middle East, in what remains of 2013, look distinctly few and far between.

With the incessant din of sabre rattling threatening to drown out all other forms of communication, some moments of quiet reflection might do everyone a world of good right now. A more cerebral and manifestly non-lethal means of persuasion could be much better suited to reducing  the dangers in conditions as they stand at present.
