Don't acknowledge that CO2 is a poisonous gas. It's not. It's relative proportion in the atmosphere has been far higher at times than anywhere it's predicted to go to if we carry on burning stuff. It's a ruse, a simplification and a deceitful trick to even consider it.

Why guess when people have actually measured these things?
http://news.discovery.com/earth/volcanoes-co2-people-emissions-climate-110627.html
In case you don't want to read the article, here is the key quote: "In fact, humans release roughly 135 times more carbon dioxide annually than volcanoes do, on average, according a new analysis. Put another way, humans emit in under three days the amount that volcanoes typically release in a year, according to the best estimates of volcanic emissions."

Agreed. And these days, the major culprits are the media, who will back anything that is populist, regardless of any intrinsic merit. Case in point - Climate Change. You seem to have some serious academic clout, which admittedly, I lack. But my reasoning is simpler. There may well be climate change, and we may be heading for an Ice Age or Global Warming. Or both. But I don't think we cause it. My guess is that one Mount St. Helens puts out more CO2 in a couple of days than all the factories in China in a year. And there a lot of volcanoes in the world. One of them put out a floating island of pumice covering hundreds or maybe thousands of square kilometers this year - and we didn't even know which undersea eruption caused it! So, while I agree that we should be good stewards of the earth, reduce pollution, cut down on waste, and all those good things, I am not convinced that our puny efforts can really change the whole climate of our planet.
