Brian of London are you sure you are not Brian of Better place? How can you compare a car that gets a 500KM range and a piece of crap that gets a 100KM range?
You don't have to charge your car? That's right, there is infrastructure that has been laid out for no reason. You can drive a tesla from the north tip of israel to eilat without a need for a charge, but you will need to stop 6 or 7 times. Sounds fun. Also, the most important issue with better place, and why I am so happy this company will be wound up soon is its all a BS scam to charge you x10 the true cost of electricity. Its amazing, the only reason to by an EV is to lower the cost of gas, but its exactly the opposite, it costs more than running a gas car, its ludicrous.
A tesla with a 50KWh battery will cost you $5 to fill up here, the gas equivalent is around $100, so you are saving 95% on gas, its wonderful. With Shitty place as I like to call it, you pay more for electricity than gas. Something that Brian from betterpace is not telling you since he is getting paid to write BS.

Also, you mentioned the articles in the times where the guy could not drive the advertised range. did you also mention he was paid off by gas companies to botch up the story. Did you mention that tesla was monitoring him and recorded him driving around in circles till kill the battery for over an hour?

Brian of better place, go buy a tesla, they will be available in israel soon. Cant think of a more perfect place for them. we live on a virtual island. Don't know many people that even drive more than 150Km a day.

Read the article to which comes the word "electric car conversion", I realized that his vision is very vague about it. A conversion involves removing the internal combustion engine, and install an electric motor and a battery system demases accessories.

I have a company that operates in "Chile" and is dedicated to professionally convert any car to electric.

This is cheaper than buying a brand new electric car.

Your inquiries can be made to : Mr. Guillermo Iturriaga EMAIL: giturriaga1@hotmail.com LASER BEAM TECHNOLOGY CHILE LTDA.

Yup, right attitude: I did just take my Renault down to Eilat needing 4 battery changes each way. As it was I was travelling with a 6 year old who needed to pee about as frequently as my battery needed changing, but if I had to do that trip often I'd prefer my wife's diesel 4x4.

The only difference is that the diesel costs me at least twice the money per km of my Better Place car and I've pre-paid that for the next 4 years!

Tesla could engineer to fit Better Place's model. It's not hard or expensive. If they did that, a 40 kWh model is all they'd need. My return trip to Eilat used 130kWh (I suspect the Tesla S especially with the big battery would use more as it's heavy). Without a switch you need a 60kWh Tesla each way I suspect.

I think your point about local use is a great one. I just got a tesla and I think of it as a city car. If I need to drive to Tahoe from San francisco I would simply rent a car. I also love the idea of a replaceable battery, but the tesla battery is a 1000 pounds and its placement is integral to the usability of the car - low center of gravity and lots of space for passenger use. I am not holding my breath for a replaceable one. But the super chargers are revolutionary themselves as they are solar powered so the (net) energy is coming from the sun and not from a power plant.

Elon Musk has published the log data. In his blog on the Tesla website titled "A Most Peculiar Test Drive" Elon does a point by point debunking of the New York Times "review". So much for publishing the truth. It seems that the New York Times allowed what accounts to libel to be widely published and then had the nerve to say it was factual. Tesla should sue them, though that might not be good PR.
