the threshold should be raised but we should also add in a partial constituent system as is done by the Germans and Dutch, I would very much like to express my opinion on this or that candidate and not leave it only to the party. also open primaries would be a good idea as already proposed by Haim Ramon.

Raising the threshold is way overdue. There is a place for all those special interests in existing parties. I think that Israelis who prefer to live abroad (not those who represent their companies or students) should not be allowed to vote in the Israeli elections. They have chosen another country as their home and are not part of the population in Israel anymore. So why should they try to influence events here.

there are multiple parties because they all represent different aspects of israeli society. it would be wrong to cut these voices from the knesset. the problem isn't that the knesset is divided, it is that the nation is divided. this is a perfect example of trying to change the institution when you should be trying to change the minds instead.

btw - there are 12 parties in the knesset but three of them are jokes (t'nua, qadima and yesh atid).

I hope Yesh Atid is successful in its bid to raise the threshold of qualifying voters to 6%. It will make a very positive difference to how our political system functions and will allow the government to run more smoothly and efficiently.

The question is whether new political trends are catered for when high treshold % are fixed.
Does it not assume that existing large parties are the ones to be preferred.
Should the law not be changed to make voting cumpulsory?
Should voting not be possible at other locations than the registered address of the voter.
Many students studying far from home did not want to wast the whole day travelling instead.
of preparing for exams.
Should voters stationed abroad by their employers not be allowed to vote like government officials?
Should citizens in the first few years of residing abroad not be allowed to vote?
Should students studying abroad not be allowed to vote?
What will happen to the threshold if we change the voting system?
What about the idea that the head of the largest party should automatically be the prime minister?
