At the launch of the Chakrabarti Report a Jewish Labour MOP, Ruth Smeeth, ran from the room in tears after being verbally attacked by a Momentum activist and Corbyn supporter – Mark Wadsworth – who used traditional antisemitic slurs to attack her for being part of a ‘media conspiracy’. Ms Smeeth’s statement is here.

On 27th September on Iain Dale’s show on LBC, a recording of an interview with Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi was played. The interview was conducted on Sunday 25th September at the Momentum rally at the Labour Party Conference by Theo Usherwood, LBC’s Political Editor. It can be heard again at 120:50 on the LBC Podcast.

Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi is Jewish and a longtime PSC and BDS activist. She is a Labour member and the Vice Chair of the Chingford branch of the Chingford and Woodford Green Constituency Labour Party.

Here is the transcript what Iain Dale called Wimborne-Idrissi’s “extraordinary claim that Ms Smeeth was part of a conspiracy to undermine Jeremy Corbyn”.

“You’ve raised the case of Ruth Smeeth. She’s one of those people who is against Corbyn, against his whole Socialist vision, right? You watch the video of her at that Chakrabarti Commission Inquiry. She participated in an attempt to completely undermine the launch of a really important report about racism.

“Did anybody know about racism after the release of that report?  No they didn’t.  All they knew was that an angry Jewish MP had run out of the room. That’s all they knew.  And if you look at what actually happened, the accusation that this particular individual had called her out in an anti-semitic way is not borne out by the facts. He ineptly – and I wish he hadn’t done it – noted that she had exchanged documents with a Daily Telegraph journalist. That’s not anti-semitic is it? That was built up as if it was part of a massive conspiracy. It’s all part of an attempt to undermine Jeremy Corbyn and his agenda. The Chakrabarti Commission has been undermined at every turn by people like Ruth Smeeth and Louise Ellman and others like them who have a political agenda!

“The question of anti-semitism is being used as a weapon in a political battle. It is scandalous. It is dangerous for Jews – like all of us – because who will know what real anti-semitism is? If it’s anti-semitic to say “I just noticed that that person exchanged a document with a Daily Telegraph journalist” – what is real racism?”

It simply beggars belief …

… that anyone – let alone someone who claims to be Jewish – should suggest that there was some kind of conspiracy “to completely undermine the launch of a really important report about racism”.

….that anyone – let alone someone who claims to be Jewish – should suggest that an obviously distressed Ms Smeeth was dissembling;

….. that anyone – let alone someone who claims to be Jewish – should deny that an obviously anti-Semitic slur was a mere comment about exchanging a document;

… that anyone – let alone someone who claims to be Jewish – should suggest that very real complaints about anti-semitism are part of a conspiracy to undermine Jeremy Corbyn. Moreover note how Wimborne-Idrissi mentions another MP – Louise Ellman – who is also Jewish – and “others like them” – the wicked innuendo being that the conspiracy is being conducted by Jewish Labour MPs.

Welcome to the cesspit where Momentum and the PSC intersect.
