It's very interesting to me that there seems to be a political rift among the Hebrew Christian elements lately. The ardent Zionism and rejection of proselytism among Pastor John Hagee and those Christians close to Rabbi Yehiel Eckstein raises the ire of people of Myers's ilk. The heads of Jews for J, and the different groups comprising this movement are not friendly towards Hagee because he believes that Jewish proselytism is fruitless (to his credit, he believes, like many more established churches, that proper Christian witness to the Jews entails a rejection of Replacement Theology). Likewise, there has been a shift away from ardent Zionism among these proselytizers, towards a more accommodating dynamic with Arabs, many Messianics even embracing Liberation Theology (which is communist when applied in Latin America and Islamist when applied to the Palestinians and their claims).

One such group many Hebrew Christians have involved themselves in is "Christ at the Checkpoint." These conferences bring together the most odious critics of Israel. Messianic pastors Evan Thomas, Wayne Hilsden, and Richard Harvey (former director of Jews for J, campaigns in England) have participated, alongside figures like Tony Campolo (a very heterodox/liberal Protestant, who is dead-set against Zionism and even Scripture, which endorses Zionism; Campolo helped engineer much of the liberation theology/social gospel programs of the Clinton and Obama Administrations, and has taken much money from George Soros) and Stephen Sizer.

Sizer (an Anglican; the Anglican Church still maintains a missionary effort in Israel directed against Jews) has been invited by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, appears regularly in IRIB, Khomeinist-run state television, and spews the lowest in anti-Semitic rhetoric. He associates himself with Holocaust Deniers and in many ways is a modern-day Martin Luther due to his views on the Jews. The Church of England has done little to censure him.

Messianic Tony Higton, who runs the Anglican Church Mission to the Jews, has become chummy with Sizer, and accuses Christian Zionists and Jews of "lack of godly compassion for Palestinians and concern for their legitimate aspirations" (sic), racism, "support for Israel, a sinful, secular state like any other," and other canards. He also condemns Christian Zionists for not converting Jews actively.

Therefore, we see that those out to annihilate Judaism through proselytism are those who also loathe our tiny, God-given medina.

Mr. Myers, I implore you to read this. I also implore you to read books on the Historical Jesus and the history of the Early Church and Jewish-Christian Encounter. Read Yitz Greenberg and Shmuely Boteach and Rabbi Jose Faur's book on the Gospel According to the Jews (I was one of the editors), for an understanding of how historically, Church Dogma makes no sense and usurps the Jewish milieu from which it sprang. Hazal, Rambam, R' Saadia Gaon, R' Yaakov Emden, etc. were some of the most brilliant men to walk this planet. God's Love abounds in the words of Torah and in the deep connection we have to Him through prayer, torah, chesed, and mitzvot. And that is a Love and a mesora, a living heritage, you can connect to, without any interference from intermediaries. It is something you can feel and ponder and inherit directly in your walk with ha Kadosh Baruch Hu. There are people who can help you (R' Tovia Singer, R' Michael Skoback, etc.)

Submitted by Robert Haymond, Tekoa (across the Green Line) Israel: Annas Awad, according to the article, is a Hamas supporter. Abbas is currently in the predicament of attempting to curb the impact of Hamas members through PA Security forces. Israeli forces also arrest militant members of Hamas located in the Westbank. Yet Calev Myers thinks its indefensible that Annas Awas has been imprisoned by the Fatah administration. We, in Israel, might actually applaud the event. After all, we are at war. Hamas has made it thoroughly clear (see its Charter) that one of its main principles is to decimate the state of Israel (albeit, the state itself has never been officially recognized). I think it would be indefensible not to sentence and imprison any Hamas member or Hamas supporter including, but not limited to, the aforenoted, Annas Awad. Incidentally, it was two members of the same family (Awads) who murdered five members of the Fogel family in Itamar. We note the indignation of some of the Readership re human rights and etc. Having said that, we are in the middle of a war. During WWII, amongst western allies, certain rights and privileges were limited or even nullified yet the determined democratic rights advocates would prefer all rights upheld even at the expense of our own destruction: Ideology, for such people, trumphs survival.
