I have lived in the UK for 5 years and I am sorry but the majority of UK jews strike me as cowards when confronted with antisemitism. Most jews I have met remain silent and paralysed when people openly deligitimise Israel in their presence. I'm not saying they're indifferent to it but they do not get upset, they don't say anthing, they don't get up from their seat, they do not leave the party/bar/function, they do not end the friendship even when the respective remarks have become unbearable. In fact, and I hope I don't insult any of my friends from North London, but many of the latter actually look left and right and behind them before they whisper the words "Israel", "antisemitism" and "jews" – in Golders Green, not in the East End. Personally I find that dire and and not a healthy attitude. I was positively shocked and disappointed to see London's jews in such a state. Whipsering words in your own local in Golders Green – awful. People need to face reality and deal with it. UK antisemites somehow expect jews to take huge slights. They side with hamas and then they are suprised when you don't come to their parties. They even ask you "why did you not come?", because they just expect jews to swallow it. And UK jews are the world champions in swallowing. BTW that's not just my opinion, Philip Roth has expressed the same view in one of his books.
