The fact that this rabbi dismisses the deliberative processes engaged in by the governing bodies of liberal denominations as "the whim of a religious committee" demonstrates, as I said, the depth of his conditioning and the futility of arguing with him (or with you) about it. Moreover, it isn't my responsibility to correct his (or your) misapprehension. If either of you were at all interested in learning the truth, you would already have done so.

And what I said about Chabad is entirely accurate – it views itself as the only legitimate form of Judaism extant and has a long tradition of trashing the minhagim of other groups. It is tragic and pathetic that you attack me by way of defending this rabbi, as he would regard you with condescension – but as a frei yid, I am automatically the common enemy, and no one does "wagons in a circle" better than the frum.
