Thanks Varda. I think it's on both sides. I think most people, religious and atheist, are respectful (and usually silent) on these issues. The few who are loud and obnoxious naturally get the most attention and often make the other side think that all religious people / atheists are insufferable, intolerant know-it-alls.

A very thoughtful and knowledgeable response to Hazony. It supports Hazony's view of God, but raises pertinent criticisms to his argumentation as well. Gil, you did a great job here expressing what I always find so hard to express to my friends who are atheists and agnostics. A human, by definition, cannot comprehend it all, but that doesn't make it any less true or real. I do not feel a need to prove anything. I wish they did not feel that need. It cannot be an easy existence.
