It's politics…What differentiates the parties are mainly the economic platforms – Lapid doesn't really have one and is basically a neo-con, Shelly has a very detailed one which is more of a vision that a plan that can be put into practice quickly but nevertheless something to look forward to. Security-wise Lapid is stuck with his "won't divide Jerusalem" which is a total non-starter and was buried at Camp-David 2 in 2000. Labor is in favor of the Clinton proposals which call for a clear division of Jerusalem. So there is definitely a difference between Labor and Lapid. Lapid and Livni's "Movement" are however difficult to distinguish although generally speaking, Lapid is the more neo-con and righ-leaning of the two (thanks to Peretz and Mitzna who are with Livni).
