6 Million Dancing Stars

Days. Nights. Mornings. Evenings.
Life. Death. Beginnings. Endings.
Arbeit macht frei.
To the right, Life. To the Left, Die.
Arbeit macht frei.
The klezmer clarinet wails into the dark night.

Here I pass through the gate.
I Mourn, Wail, Lament. I am always too late.
Why did you die and I live? Why are you condemned to this fate?
I want revenge. I want to punish. I want to hate.

The klezmer wail calls me from barrack to barrack.
The wail. The Kaddish. The screams. The crying cleric.
The snow flakes of human flesh.
Why 6 million tests?

Stripped to the Soul. Naked to the bone. Tortured to the last moan. Faith all alone.
A minute before, alive. A minute after, nothing left to revive.
No more Grandmother. No more Grandfather. No more sister. No more brother.
Arbeit Mach frei. Works makes free. Auschwitz, the dead ridden sea.

Blood is the ocean. Burnt is the Flesh. I am numb to emotion.
Barrack to Barrack, the klezmer wail calls me to add my Soul to the pile of ashes. Screams pass as death flashes.
A thunderstorm of bone. A rain of blood. A lightning of despair.
I tear out my head till I have no hair.

I dig my own pit. How can I go on? I will take a knife to slit.
Arbeit macht frei. I no longer want to live, but only to die.
I place the knife to my throat. I am ready to be another Isaac.
“Wail on. Wail on. Wail on.” I cry out.

The Six Million appear before me. The sweet children. The old sick grandmothers. The broken others. I am ready to join.
Upon my neck.

The klezmer wail breaks.

Slowly the tempo changes. The mourning exchanges. The Souls of the 6 Million begin to embrace in great song. I am in a new dawn. A Wedding. A Wedding. A Chasna!

The Klezmer wail turns to joyous song as the 6 Million carry me on their shoulders.

“WE ARE NOT DEAD! WE ARE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD! OUR SOULS ARE THE STARS. OUR LIVES ARE ETERNAL. OUR DANCE IS OF THE LIVING. WE WERE CHOSEN TO BE THE ONES TO SANCTIFY THE HOLY NAME, THE ETERNAL.
DANCE, OUR CHILD! DANCE! FOR WE LIVE FOREVER.TO LIFE. TO LIFE. LACHAIM. ARBEIT MACHT FREI. NAZI, IT IS YOU WHO DIED. NO MORE GRAVES. NO MORE PAIN. NO MORE MADNESS. NO MORE DARKNESS. WE ARE 6 MILLION BROTHERS AND SISTERS. 6 MILLION DANCING STARS.”

TO LIFE!!!!
