A democracy with assault weapons unrestricted but abortion pills controlled?

There is a one-word explanation. It’s called sexism.

In the US, anyone in the public (street) or private (club, church) sphere is fair game to be targeted for mass murder. Black men sit on death row for decades. But abortion is outlawed because that’s ‘murder.’ The country killed myriad with atomic bombs on cities (Hiroshima and Nagasaki), and in imperialistic wars (Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq), without any apologies.

Overall, the US makes life cheap and death close, except concerning women’s needs. Bootlegging was too extreme for men. They have a ‘right’ to destroy their lives and waste the family’s income. Don’t touch men’s ‘comfort.’ But women literally can drop dead (from illegal abortions) because macho politicians need to orate about the ‘sanctity of life.’

USA conservatives have so much empathy with a couple of hundred cells that could become a human and so little with women pregnant against their will and with safety for kids in school that it is disgusting.

Jewish Law doesn’t see induced abortion as the killing of a human within the first pregnancy month. And after that, the woman is not considered a mere incubator for the man’s seed. She is a person whose needs take precedence. When there is a conflict between the pregnant woman and the fetus, the latter is considered an aggressor, and the woman deserves protection! There is a limit to what discomfort or distress by the woman is considered bad enough to sanction an abortion, but that’s the overall rule.

I think that the sanctity of life in the US would be much served if it would prioritize gun safety, abolish capital punishment, disavow aggressive wars, apologize for the unjust wars fought, slave trade, and slavery, prevent abuse of alcohol and other drugs, protection against poverty and homelessness, and take women’s needs seriously.

The Invisible Terrorists Whose Murders are No Priority

In other news of violence against women not opposed by the State, unfortunately, yet an additional woman was likely murdered by her husband in her home, the ninth in Israel this year.

In previous years, Israeli-Muslim women were murdered five times more often than Israeli-Jewish women. Once, many of the violent spouses were new immigrants. Now, however, most seem veteran Israeli Jews.

In any case, this government has arm-wrestled party discipline on the Knesset to not do anything to diminish this terrorism. Murderers.

Women Exist

Readers of a Chareidi magazine were ‘surprised’ to find pictures of two righteous women in their Pesach copy. Of course, this does not resemble half-clad teenage girls gracing cars ads, but it’s still seen as a daring move. It’s so long overdue that one wonders if the foot is still on the brakes.
