A Light unto the Nations

How can we hear the sigh of anyone,
If we are not listening with our souls?
How can we feel the pain of anyone,
If not present to the other, as part of us?

Do we hear the sigh of the voiceless, or
Of those who can no longer sigh,
As they become paralyzed or resigned
To a situation with no hope of exit.

How can we comprehend their encyclopedia
Of references, dictionary of terms,
Galleries of portraits and background music
To their very lives? We must understand

Their fear, anxiety, sadness, depression,
Despair, anger, frustration, irritation,
Resentment, pride and past celebration ,
Moments of happiness, if, any still, remain .

Due to the resignation to their situation,
We must awaken our determination
For ultimate restoration
By which to work for the humanization.

Of all of society for its continuation,
By ensuring to bring light unto the nations.
