These days you might want to think twice.
Syria, which fought several wars against Israel, was hit with civil war, and is now a devastated country. Damascus is listed as the least livable city in the world.
Libya and Lebanon waged terror against the Jewish state. Both countries have been shattered by inner turmoil. (Recently, after Libya’s government denied that they had approved negotiations with Israel, and then forced their Libyan foreign minister to flee, a deluge of rain named “Daniel” broke two dams, and water tore through a Libyan city, causing enormous destruction.)
Yemen, a country where Jews were severely and violently persecuted for many years, has been severely devastated by an ongoing civil war.
Many Ukrainians conducted pogroms against Jews about one hundred years ago, collaborated with Nazis against Jews during the holocaust, and reportedly legitimized Ukrainian Nazi militias during the past decade. Ukraine has suffered tremendously from Russian bombardment over the past year.
In this week’s Torah reading, Haazinu, we are foretold that those who oppressed the Jewish people will be punished.
“(And then) the nations will praise His people, when (they see) He avenges the spilling of His servants’ blood; He will inflict revenge upon the oppressors; and the land, with His people, will be comforted.” (Deuteronomy 32; 43)
We are seeing miraculous Divine intervention. Redemption with Moshiach, a time of salvation for all humanity, seems very close.
May it happen now.
