Are We Screwed or Are We Merely Skewed?

We are indeed living in times that make little if any sense. Priorities are horribly skewed. Our global collective conscience … where is it? Our world, the one we inhabit, is indeed a very self-absorbed and exceedingly indifferent one. Are we indeed headed to the abyss and in fact destined to plunge screaming over the edge (most probably while staring intently at our mobile devices)?

That being said and as we are all acutely aware, three innocent Israeli teens were kidnapped while headed home from the Yeshiva, ten days ago on a Thursday evening. They were “tremping” or hitchhiking when this happened. And for those that are unaware, that is a normal activity in Israel. Public transportation is limited or not scheduled according to the individual’s needs, taxis are expensive and many do not own private vehicles. It is a necessary way of life in Israel. That aside, these three children were seized against their will and are now hidden somewhere away from our view. The why, has not yet been absolutely determined, but it certainly appears that the reason was leverage. We take yours and then trade, for ours. Makes sense … hell no!!!

Children are NOT pawns to be used in the “game” of terror … never ever never. They are not our soldiers, nor are they our weapons, nor should they be shields behind which to hide.

As a poet at heart, I’ve written a special verse praying for G-d’s grace and that our boys be returned safely to their loving families, and I wish to share it with you here. Please note:  “~ Me <3” is my signature and my words are all original. You of course, may share, as long as the poem is properly attributed to me, as the writer. Thank you.

Not a dry eye exists,

As we all pray for our boys,

Their innocence stolen,

Laughter quieted, silent noise,

On their way home,

From a day late at school,

Kidnapped by cowards,

Who’ve deemed us a fool,

Free these precious children,

From the chains that do bind,

Allow their families to feel,

Relief, of the blessed kind,

May the IDF be safe,

As the search continues on,

May the pressure be great,

On the Hamas evil spawn,

Eyal, Gilad and Naftali,

In our hearts we do yearn,

That with the blessing of G-d,

We can rejoice on your safe return.
