Rabbi Ammos Chorny is the spiritual leader of Beth Tikvah in Naples, Florida. Born in Colombia and ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, where he earned a Master of Hebrew Literature degree, he has served congregations throughout the Americas and taught Hebrew language and Jewish studies at universities in the United States and Canada. A former U.S. Army chaplain, he brings to his writing decades of experience as a rabbi, educator, immigrant, and community leader. His essays explore Jewish thought, memory, ethics, leadership, technology, civic responsibility, and contemporary culture, with particular attention to the ways ancient Jewish wisdom can illuminate the choices and moral challenges of ordinary life. At the heart of his writing is a recurring question: not only what Judaism asks us to know, but who it asks us to become.
