Arlene Fickler is the immediate past Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. She currently chairs the JCRC’s Religious Freedom Committee and serves as a Federation Trustee. Before becoming the JCRC Chair, she served as Chair of its Israel Advocacy Committee.
Other past roles include President of her synagogue (Temple Beth Zion – Beth Israel), Director and Board Chair of the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Philadelphia, Director of HIAS Pennsylvania, and Director of Jewish Community Centers Association of North America. Arlene represented the American Jewish Congress and NCJRAC in County of Allegheny v ACLU, the US Supreme Court case involving the display of a crèche and menorah on public property. For her community work she received the Jewish Social Policy Action Network Social Justice Award in 2010.
