I feel empowered as an Asian-American Jew — but it sure took a while to get here

Growing up, I used my Jewishness as a stepping stone to whiteness, and berated myself for a jumbled collage of Asian stereotypes and failed expectations

Jenni Rudolph is a songwriter and musician from Southern California. She is a secular Jew of mixed Chinese/Ashkenazi heritage, as well as the Creative Director of LUNAR: The Jewish-Asian Film Project.
