About Me
Linda M. Hakerem is the Program Department Chair in the Engagement Division. She is a member of the Honorary Council of Hadassah. Recently, Linda was a co-chair of the Hadassah Super South Tri-Region Conference in Atlanta. In the past, she was the SUN Co-Op Coordinator in the Organization Division and a member of the National Board of Hadassah. Linda also held the portfolio of Health and Wellness Team Leader in the PRAZE Division. Among the portfolios she has held during her Hadassah “journey” are National Liaison to several of the regions in the Hadassah SUN (Southern Cooperative Network). In addition, she served as the SUN Council’s Consultant for its Young, Prime, and Premier Leaders, as well as serving as the Co-op Leadership Development Coordinator. Linda was Hadassah’s first volunteer chair for College Campus Outreach/Hamagshimim, National Mentors Chair and was the Local Chair for the 2002 National Convention in Orlando. Linda is a proud four-generation Life Member of Hadassah and a member of the Keepers of the Gate. She is a past Region President for the Miami Region and past president of the Aliyah Chapter in the Miami Region. In 1989, her chapter honored her as its Woman of the year and National Leadership Award recipient. In 2014, after 57 years of living in Miami, Linda moved to Atlanta and immediately became involved with the Greater Atlanta Chapter serving as Co-Chair for the chapter’s Centennial Gala and Leadership Vice President. Currently Linda is serving as Advisor to the Board. A graduate of the University of South Florida, College of Education, Linda received her master’s degree in Remedial Reading from the University of Miami. Linda was an elementary school teacher in Jewish day schools for 36 years and served as the Director of the Gordon Day School in Miami for two years before she moved to Atlanta. Linda and her husband, Jay, have three children. Her favorite activity in life is being Grammie to their eight grandchildren ranging in age from 6-19. Linda finds her role as a Hadassah volunteer extremely fulfilling, and she is proud to devote her time and energy to an organization that helps strengthen Israel while addressing issues of importance to American Jewish Women.
