About Me
Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss was ordained by HUC in Cincinnati, OH in 1999, with an MA in Jewish Education and Hebrew Letters. He studied at HUC in Jerusalem, LA, and Cincinnati, as well as the UJ Rabbinic program in LA. In his first pulpit at Temple Emanuel as the Rabbinic Director of Education and Outreach, he served the Jewish community of Birmingham, AL for 12 years. After serving Congregation Emanu El in Houston, TX, Rabbi Scott became the founding Rabbi of Congregation Shma Koleinu (CSK) in Houston. Shma Koleinu, now in its 10th year, is a synagogue without walls, membership, or dues that operates on 100% voluntary contributions. We serve all Jews, Jewish families and those who love them, and our motto is, “Join us…you already belong.” Rabbi Scott has grown in his rabbinate over the years, as a Rukin Rabbinic Fellow of 18Doors, a Rabbinic Fellow of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, a certified facilitator of Brene Brown’s “The Daring Way,” and a trained instructor for Ayeka, Soulful Education. Rabbi Scott is also a member of the national board of 18Doors and serves on the executive committee of the Houston Rabbinic Association. Rabbi Scott is married to Natalie, and their children are Abraham (26) and Samuel (22).
