Rabbi Steven Abraham joined Beth El Synagogue in July 2011 as Assistant Rabbi and transitioned to become the congregation's Senior Rabbi in August 2013. He is married to Pamela Berkowitz, and together they are proud parents of two wonderful children, Naama and Leor.
Rabbi Abraham earned his rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he also completed a Master of Arts in Jewish Education. Prior to his rabbinical training, he graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Recently, he expanded his commitment to interfaith dialogue by completing a Certificate in Interfaith Families Engagement through Hebrew College.
Throughout his academic journey, Rabbi Abraham maintained a strong connection with Jewish youth, dedicating his time to USY as a group leader on summer programs such as USY on Wheels and Summer in the City. Additionally, he staffed the NATIV program, fostering connections and leadership skills among young adults.
Rabbi Abraham is deeply committed to community engagement and leadership, serving on local and national boards including the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, the National Board of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and the Israel Bonds National Rabbinic Advisory Council. Most recently, Rabbi Abraham was honored by his selection into Leadership Omaha Class 43, recognizing his ongoing contributions to the wider community.
