Rabbi Steven Abraham joined Beth El in July 2011 as Assistant Rabbi and became the congregation’s Rabbi in August 2013. He is a proud father to two wonderful children, daughter Naama and son Leor and husband to Pamela Berkowitz. Rabbi Abraham earned his rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he also obtained an M.A. in Jewish Education. Prior to that, he graduated with a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Baltimore. Most recently, he completed a Certificate in Interfaith Families Engagement from Hebrew College.
During his college and rabbinical studies, Rabbi Abraham was deeply involved with USY, serving as a group leader on multiple summer programs, including USY on Wheels and Summer in the City, and he also staffed the NATIV program.
Rabbi Abraham holds several leadership roles on both local and national boards. He serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands and the National Board of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, is part of the Israel Bonds National Rabbinic Advisory Council, and is a founding board member of The Nebraska Religious Council for Reproductive Freedom. Recently, he was selected to be a member of Leadership Omaha Class 43.
