Sylvia Barack Fishman, Ph.D., is a Professor of American Jewish life and culture, emerita, in the Near Eastern and Judaic Studies Department at Brandeis University. The author of eight books and numerous articles, she received the Marshall Sklare Award from the Association for the Social Scientific Study of Jewry, and writes and speaks on contemporary Jewish life.
